Torii Mor Winery Achieves LEED – Gold Certification

Torii Mor Vineyard and Winery in Dundee, OR, has received LEED – Gold Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). To become certified at any level, as per the U.S. Green Building Council guidelines,specific prerequisites and criteria must be met in the following areas: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection, and indoor environmental quality. Credits are awarded based on each category to establish the level of certification. Torii Mor was awarded 42 points in achieving Gold LEED. Currently, only a handful of wineries are LEED certified in the U.S.Torii Mor’s new gravity flow winery facility in the Dundee Hills was completed in September 2007, incorporating a 45 k W solar array photovoltaic (PV) system. Both the Vineyard and the Winery are LIVE (Low Input Viticulture and Enology) and OCS (Oregon Certified Sustainable). For additional information about Torii Mor visit the winery online here.

ABOUT Torii Mor – Torii Mor was founded in 1993 by Donald Olson, MD, who remains the owner to this day with his wife, Margie. Premium Pinot Noir production, along with Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc, are the focus of Winemaker Jacques Tardy. Annual production is 14,000 cases, being distributed in the United States, Canada, Japan and Sweden. Torii Mor’s latest commitment is the new gravity flow winery in the Dundee Hills, designed to be environmentally friendly using solar power and LEED – Gold Certified.
